The creative-talent category

Influencers and content creators fall under the Golden Visa's "specialised talents and creative industries" stream, which grants a 10-year renewable residence without a local sponsor. Unlike an ordinary work visa tied to an employer, this is a status tied to you — your standing and record as a creator. What you need

Two different visas get conflated in almost every guide, and the criteria are not interchangeable:

  • The 10-year Golden Visa (creative talent). The core requirement is accreditation: an approval or recommendation letter from the Ministry of Culture or the relevant emirate culture and arts authority recognising you as creative talent. The case is built on your portfolio, reach, awards and standing; there is no fixed federal income test for this category.
  • The 5-year Green Residence (freelancer route). This is where the familiar checklist actually belongs: a freelance permit from MOHRE or a free zone, a bachelor's degree or specialised diploma, and annual freelance income of AED 360,000 over the preceding two years (or proof of financial solvency).

Both routes are assessed case by case and criteria evolve, so the application is as much about how the evidence is presented, portfolio, reach, income, recognition, as about ticking boxes. For many creators the Green Residence is the realistic first step and the Golden Visa the later upgrade once the accreditation case is strong.

No degree? It depends on the route. The Green Residence freelancer route requires the qualification. The Golden Visa creative-talent route turns on accreditation and standing, so a strong portfolio and record can carry an application without a traditional degree.
